Anger issues in a 14 year old girl

I need some advice for my sister in law. Her daughter of 14 has become more of a handful as the years have passed. She gets into a lot of trouble at school and even threatened to throw a chair a one teacher. She has been excluded from school on a number of occasions and regularly walks out of lessons and wanders around the school.
She is so rude to her mum and dad and walks around the house slamming doors and screaming and swearing at everyone.

My sister in law and brother are at their wits end. She is from a loved home and nothing has happened to her to make her this way, she is well looked after and is able to do the things she wants. So we can't understand why she's like this. We fear the school may get to the point where they no longer want her there and what happens then?

I don't know what to advise her. Can anyone give some advice?

When did all this start?
The anger started when she was about 11 I believe.  She has told me that she enjoys being angry as it means people won't cross her.

That's interesting, I wonder if she was bullied before that then. Could she have been? Is there anything different about her ? Or has her appearance changed from that point in anyway, such as her hair colour, weight etc...?

As a matter of fact she was slightly on the chubby side when she was about 9, 10 and 11, when she was 13 she went through a stage of barely eating, we were a bit worried at the time, but then she started eating again and she's been very slim ever since.
She also died her hair every colour you can think of. I hadn't thought of whether she could have been bullied before. I'll speak to her about it now, and my sister in law too.

Thank you.
